Antvicwas appointed as the main contractor for the design and construction of a 112-studio purpose-built student accommodation scheme, together with associated external works.

The development delivers 112 high-quality, managed student accommodation units, helping to address the ongoing shortage of student housing. The scheme also includes the creation of a public realm community garden, contributing positively to the wider neighbourhood. Designed as a car-free development, it promotes sustainable modes of transport such as cycling, walking, and the use of public transport, while enhancing visual amenity for surrounding residents and regenerating a previously neglected brownfield site.

The design aligns with the vision supported by the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC), focusing on delivering a high standard of living for occupants through well-designed, amenity-rich spaces. Sustainability is central to the scheme, with no reliance on fossil fuel-based heating systems and a strong emphasis on low-carbon and renewabletechnologies.

The building activates the street frontage with vibrant, well-used social spaces, achieving approximately 80% active frontage. Architecturally, the development offers a high-quality and contextually sensitive design, carefully responding to the character of the surrounding conservation area through the use of appropriate materials and detailing, enhancing both the site and its wider setting.
